EMU Places 14 On ODAC Sportsmanship Teams

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference named 14 EMU student-athletes to the 2016-17 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports.

The Royals recognized were:

  • Senior Josh Alderfer (Faber, Va./Nelson County) - Men's Golf
  • Freshman Lexi Deffenbaugh (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) - Women's Basketball
  • Senior Tyler Denlinger (Perkasie, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) - Men's Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field
  • Senior Mary Deskins (Winchester, Va./John Handley) - Women's Soccer
  • Junior Janae Kauffman (Harleysville, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) - Field Hockey
  • Senior Oksana Kittrell (Bedford, Va./Liberty) - Women's Outdoor Track & Field
  • Sophomore Mark Loving (Woodford, Va./Caroline) - Men's Basketball
  • Freshman Olyvia Longacre (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) - Women's Golf
  • Senior Dylan Polley (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) - Men's Soccer
  • Sophomore Zach Roberts (Stuarts Draft, Va./Riverheads) - Baseball
  • Senior Lauren Seale (Madison, Va./Madison County) - Softball
  • Sophomore Laurie Serrell (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) - Women's Cross Country
  • Junior Brittany Williams (King George, Va./King George) - Women's Indoor Track & Field
  • Junior Janna Williams (Kenbridge, Va./Kenston Forest) - Women's Volleyball

"I am pleased the conference recognizes student-athletes for their focus on fair play and sportsmanship," ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston said. "The conference prides itself on positive sportsmanship and encouraging student-athletes to lead by example. Each one of the honorees has been selected by the coaches in recognition of their conduct in the arena."

This marks the eighth year the ODAC has recognized student-athletes for sportsmanship. The league honored 240 athletes on the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sportsmanship Teams.
