ODAC Names Nafziger Athlete Of The Week

This past weekend was one of firsts for EMU's Dan Nafziger (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonburg).  He ran the 3000m steeplechase for the first time, took first place in the Eastern Mennonite record books, and then today won his first ODAC Athlete of the Week award for track & field.

Nafziger crossed the steeplechase finish line in 9:55.04 at the Johnson C. Smith Unversity Invitational.  He not only edged out another runner by a fraction of a second at the meet, but also broke the EMU record of 9:55.26, which was set by Lynn Stoltzfus in 1994.

Nafziger also claimed an Athlete of the Week award during the cross country season this past fall.

The Royals are getting ready for the ODAC Championships, which are this Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg.
