The Diamond Royals won game two of their doubleheader against SUNY Oneonta Saturday afternoon after losing in game one. The split moves EMU to 5-5-1 on the season.

Because of the forecasted winter weather, Sunday's single game against Oneonta was cancelled.

That leaves Tuesday's home date with Christopher Newport as the next game on the schedule. Start time Tuesday is at 2:00pm.  EMU is looking into the possibility of picking up a new opponent on Thursday of this week to bolster their schedule over Spring Break.

The Royals were unable to get much offense going in the first game as all of their runs came in the ninth inning.

A two-runner home run in the third inning began the scoring for the Red Dragons in the third inning. Then two singles followed by a two-out double would add two runs in the fourth inning. Oneonta would add two more in the fifth to build their lead to six.

Riley Wesp (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) entered the game in relief in the sixth inning and threw two innings giving up just one run on two hits. Paul Wilson (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence) threw a perfect inning for the Royals in the ninth.

With most of the starters out of the game, the EMU offense gathered momentum that would roll in the ninth inning and continue into the second game. Matt Curry (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) led off with a double and was brought in on a single by Robert Guenther (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall). After a walk, a wild pitch brought in another run then Jordan Brake (Roanoke, Va./Lord Botetourt) would ground out to bring in the third run.

The Royals started off the second game with an offensive explosion that set the tone for the rest of the game. The first two batters reached base before Brett Lindsay (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) hit an RBI single. Jaylon Lee (Newport News, Va./Denbigh) drove in the second run on a groundout and Tyler McFadden (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) hit an RBI double to right field then later scored on a wild pitch. Corey Willis (Fredricksburg, Va./Massaponax) added an RBI single as EMU would score five runs in the first inning.

Zach Roberts (Stuarts Draft, Va./Riverheads) hit a double to right field to start the second inning. Ray Tricarico (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) found a hole on the left side for a two-run single that scored Roberts and Lindsay who reached on a walk.

The Royals would added four more in the third inning as Roberts and Lee both hit two-run doubles to left field.

EMU would add two more runs in the seventh inning on wild pitches then sacrifice flies would score the final two runs.

Junior Bailey Hall (Daleville, Va./James River) started the game and earned the win for the Royals as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down and shutting out the Red Dragons over the next five innings while striking out five.

Gage Riddick (Gates County, N.C./Gates County) and Spencer Laitinen (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) combined to throw three scoreless innings in relief striking out six batters with just one hit and one walk.

Roberts finished 2-4 scoring three runs with two doubles and three RBI. Lindsey reached base four times walking twice and going 2-3 while scoring three times with an RBI. John Judy (Shanks, W.V./Hampshire) finished 2-2 with a double.
