The Tigers jumped out to an early lead with an RBI double in the first inning. The Royals responded with a run of their own in the top of the fourth inning as Robert Guenther (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.

EMU took the lead in the top of the sixth scoring three runs. Three RBI singles in a row by Tyler McFadden (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem), Guenther, and Jordan Brake (Roanoke, Va./Lord Botetourt) put the Royals in front. A lead they held only until the bottom of the sixth as Hampden-Sydney answered with four runs of their own and then three more in the seventh. The Tigers added four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on walks and RBI singles.

A bases loaded walk to Jordan Jones (Saxe, Va./Randolph Henry) in the eighth and one to Daniel Scott (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) in the ninth added a run in each inning for the Royals.

McFadden finished 3-4 scoring once with an RBI. Guenther was 1-2 with two RBIs and a walk.

Tyler Blevins was 3-3 with three RBIs and a home run for Hampden-Sydney while Mark Evans was 4-4 with four RBIs.

Game two was a pitcher's duel until the seventh and eighth innings with Hampden-Sydney added three and two runs. Bailey Hall (Daleville, Va./James River) threw six innings strong giving up just one run on four hits and striking out three before allowing two base runners to reach in the top of the seventh after getting the first out.

Trenton Tiller pitched a complete game for the Tigers giving up just the one earned run on seven hits allowing just one walk and striking out three.

The lone EMU run came in the third inning when John Judy (Shanks, W.V./Hampshire) found his way around to score after a leadoff single. Brett Lindsay (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) hit a sacrifice fly with one out to bring in Judy, but the Royals would leave the bases loaded to end the inning.

Lee and Judy both finished 2-4 with Lee hitting a double in the first inning.
