The Royals' five-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 7-1 loss at McDaniel College. EMU's field hockey women had been on their best start to a season since 2008.

Eastern Mennonite settles at 6-2 with the non-conference loss. They begin ODAC play this Saturday, hosting Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00pm.

McDaniel came out like a terror in Wednesday's game, forcing goalie Kelsey Troyer (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) to make a pair of saves just one minute into the game. Then after a corner, they tallied the first goal in the second minute.

The Royals answered in a similar manner, firing a pair of shots and earning two corners. At the 3:45 mark, Rachel Breslin (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) collected on loose ball on the right post and hit the cage to tie up the score.

But the Green Terror kept on coming, taking over with goals in the seventh and ninth minutes. Another goal in the 26th minute made it 4-1 by halftime.

McDaniel added three more scores in the second half, which also saw a two-and-a-half hour weather delay.

The home team ended with a 26-9 advantage in shots. Troyer racked up 15 saves, her second highest total of the year. Casey Webb (Hampton, Va./Bethel) put both of her shots on goal. Breslin's goal was the fifth of the season for the freshman.
