Entering her third season at the helm of the EMU field hockey program, Coach Ashley Kishorn has released the 2019 schedule, primed to push her rebuilding team back up the rungs of the ODAC ladder.

The Royals start the year at home, hosting Lancaster Bible on Saturday, August 31. LBC's program is back in its second year of existence after an absence of more than three decades.

Eastern Mennonite plays 10 non-conference games before ODAC play starts in October.

A big event on the calendar this year is the Sept. 14 home game against Juniata, designated as a Field Hockey Alumni Day. Former players and coaches of the storied Eastern Mennonite field hockey program, which has won 11 ODAC Championships and gone to nine NCAA Tournaments, are invited back to campus. A small-sided alumni game will precede the varsity contest, while the day also includes halftime introductions and a postgame dinner.

The Royals also host non-conference games against McDaniel, Goucher and Sweet Briar.

The eight-game Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule opens with a road game at Randolph-Macon on Oct. 9. Washington and Lee comes to Harrisonburg on Oct. 12 for EMU Homecoming as well as the first home ODAC contest.

The women also host Ferrum and Roanoke before the season finale against Shenandoah on Nov. 2. That day will also be EMU's senior recognition and a Rowdy Royals Game.

With a record of 8-11 in 2018, the Royals earned their most wins since 2011.
