The EMU field hockey women were picked eighth out of the nine schools in the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Poll as they continue to redevelop a program rich with history. The Royals received 12 points in the poll of ODAC coaches, coming in one point ahead of Ferrum.

Last season's 8-11 overall finish was the most wins the program has totaled since 2011. Coach Ashley Kishorn looks to keep building upon success as she has increased the team's win total in her first two season.

EMU returns sophomore Skylar Hedgepeth (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) who was named All-ODAC Third Team as a freshman. Joining her for offense are Lauren Hartzler (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and Rachel Breslin (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) as key goal scorers from last year, while seniors Madeline Mast (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and Hannah Nichols (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) provide vital roles. Clover Cooper (Barboursville, Va./Orange County), Brandy Troutman (Mountville, Va./Hempfield) and Casey Webb (Hampton, Va./Bethel) return to provide a strong defensive line.

The Royals open the year at home with a matchup against Lancaster Bible at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 31.
