EMU's golfers shot their best rounds of the spring over the weekend at the UMW Eagle Invitational. The two-day event was on the par-71 Augustine Golf Club in Stafford, Va.

Despite Sunday's chillier weather, sophomore Benjamin Shenk (Elkton, Va./Page County) took off five strokes from his day one score, tallying rounds of 81 and 76 for a two-day total of 157 (+15). He finished 11th out of 51 golfers and just two strokes away from his first-ever top-10 finish.

Riley Kingsley (North Newton, Kan./Newton) carded a 79 on Saturday, and slipped back to an 84 on Sunday, totaling a 163 (+21) and a tie for 18th.

Lucas Miller (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) finished tied for 34th with scores of 85 and 86, while Austin Sachs (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) was just three spots back with his scores of 86 and 88.

Christopher Elliott (Beaver Springs, Pa./Midd-West) finished out the team with rounds of 88 and 90. Chris Fenn (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) golfed as an individual, notching an 86 and 94.

As a team, the Royals put together scores of 331 and 334, their two lowest scores out of six rounds this spring. They finished eighth out of nine teams, and just seven strokes back of ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan in sixth.

EMU gets a week off before heading to the Glenn Heath Memorial at Williamsburg Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va., on April 15 and 16. That is the final tune-up for the three-day ODAC Championships on April 28-30.
