Royals Make Big Move At Glenn Heath

EMU's golf men are heading into the ODAC Championships on a high note after shooting their best round of the spring. Fueled by an 11-stroke improvement, the Royals moved up one spot in the team standings on the final day of the Glenn Heath Memorial on Tuesday.

The ODAC Championships are April 28-30 at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.

After shooting a 344 on Monday at the par-72 Williamsburg Golf Club, EMU's men improved to a 333 on the final day, surging past Marymount in the team standings and coming one stroke away from host Apprentice. The 333 was also the Royals' lowest team score vs. par in eight rounds this spring.

Senior Lucas Miller (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) led the charge, taking six strokes off his day one score with a 79 on Tuesday. He tallied a total of 164 (+20) and moved up eight spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 29th.

Riley Kingsley (North Newton, Kan./Newton) finished at 169 (+25) in a tie for 37th, while Benjamin Shenk (Elkton, Va./Page County) took off four strokes on Tuesday for a two-day total of 172 (+28) and 43rd. Austin Sachs (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) also shaved off four swings to come in at 174 (+30).

Christopher Elliott (Beaver Springs, Pa./Midd-West) rounded out the team at 175 (+31). Chris Fenn (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) played as an individual at 187 (+43).

Randolph-Macon ran away with the team title by 19 strokes, aided by the top two individuals, including medalist Trey Razzetti at 146 (+2).
