    Eastern Mennonite University is pleased to announce its members on the 2013-14 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Teams.
  • EMU Breaks Record Again For All-Academic Honorees

    Eastern Mennonite University once again set a new high for student-athletes named to the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, as 96 Royals were honored. Last year a total of 80 Royals were named to the list, which had also been a high over the previous year’s total of 61.
  • EMU Puts Six On Academic All-State Team

    Six EMU student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-State Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). A total of 226 student-athletes representing 38 colleges and universities in the state were recognized.
  • SEASON REVIEW: A Season Of Near Misses For Men's Soccer

    The men’s soccer season was bookended with wins in 2013. The middle of the campaign, however, displayed the parity of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, as the Royals suffered five one-goal losses, including two in overtime, and were denied a return trip to the ODAC Tournament.

    Eastern Mennonite University junior Mark Mast has been named to the Men's Soccer College Division Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention list released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
  • Royals Earn National Academic Award

    The EMU men’s soccer team has earned a prestigious honor, being given a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award. The Royals accumulated a 3.13 GPA as a team during the 2012-13 academic year.
  • Downs Named All-State First Team

    Center back Joao “Chris” Downs has been named as one of the top players in Virginia, as he earned a spot on the All-State First Team.
  • Downs And Rhine Earn All-ODAC Spots

    The Eastern Mennonite men’s soccer team put two players onto the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams which were released today. Defender Joao Downs earned a spot on the All-ODAC First Team, while forward Christian Rhine landed on the All-ODAC Third Team.

  • Royals End Year With Second Straight Four-Goal Explosion

    Eastern Mennonite’s soccer men closed the 2013 season with another fireworks display, exploding to a 4-0 win at Shenandoah. In their second-to-last game of the year, the Royals scored four goals, their most in a game in four years, and Tuesday night the men made it back-to-back outbursts.
  • Seniors Lead The Way To 4-2 Win Over Randolph-Macon

    The Royals sent their seniors out in fine fashion Saturday night, netting the most goals in a game since 2009 in a 4-2 thumping of Randolph-Macon. In the final home game of the season, the EMU soccer men had a 3-0 lead by the 53rd minute and made it last.
  • Double Overtime Loss Denies EMU Men Postseason Bid

    Eastern Mennonite scored first Wednesday afternoon at Bridgewater, but couldn’t hold off the Eagles in a 2-1 loss in double overtime. Not only was the rivalry loss deflating, but it also knocked EMU’s soccer men from the hunt of an ODAC Tournament berth.

    Sometimes all it takes is one bad sequence. For the EMU soccer men Saturday afternoon, it was a span of one minute and 13 seconds where they gave up two goals to Lynchburg College, which was enough for a 2-0 loss on the road.

    EMU's soccer men took a 3-0 loss at the hands of nationally-ranked Dickinson Tuesday night in Carlisle, Pa. The Red Devils looked every bit as good as their No. 13 national ranking in the NSCAA coaches poll released earlier in the day, as they out-shot the Royals 32-10.

    The Royals comeback attempt came up short Saturday afternoon, ending in a 2-1 loss to Hampden-Sydney in Harrisonburg. EMU rallied with less than ten minutes to play, but could only manage one late goal in front of a big Homecoming crowd.

    Despite jumping to a 2-0 lead by the 17th minute, the Royals still found themselves trailing over the final 34 minutes. At that point, the game of inches turned its back on EMU, as the soccer men missed on a few great looks and suffered a 3-2 loss to Wesley College.

    Despite scoring the first goal, the EMU soccer men found themselves on the short end of a 3-1 decision against Lebanon Valley Wednesday night. The non-conference loss drops the Royals to 2-3 on the year before they open ODAC play this weekend.

    After a scoreless first half, the second 45 minutes got away from the EMU soccer men Saturday afternoon, as Mary Washington tacked in three goals for a 3-0 decision. The Royals are now 1-1 after opening the season at the UMW Soccer Classic in Fredericksburg.

    It took less than ten minutes of the 2013 season for the Eastern Mennonite soccer men to score and they never looked back in a 3-1 win over Marymount Friday evening in Fredericksburg. The Royals play host Mary Washington Saturday afternoon to complete play at the UMW Soccer Classic.
  • Experience Doesn't Help Royals In Preseason Poll

    Despite an impressive number of returners this fall, the EMU men's soccer team was only picked ninth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll. In the voting done by the league coaches, the Royals totaled 52 points, but were within 11 points of sixth place in the poll.
