The EMU soccer men lost 3-0 at William Peace today in a hard fought contest.
The Pacers came out fast as they took a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute on a goal by Jorge Aguilar. The Royals came close to tying the game shortly after on a shot by Joshua Chiquillo (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) that was saved by the William Peace goalkeeper.
After going back and forth throughout the rest of the first half without anyone taking a clear advantage, William Peace eventually scored a second goal in just the 46th minute in the second half that eventually would be too much for the Royals to overcome.
The Pacers soon added a third goal in the 56th minute that ended the scoring for the day. EMU came close to getting on the board near the end of the game in the 89th minute on shots by Dominic Powers (Culpeper, Va./Fresta Valley Christian) and Chiquillo.
Emmanuel Kampanga (Kinshasa, Congo/American School) had four saves for the Royals.
EMU plays again Wednesday against cross-town rival Bridgewater College with that game set to start at 4:30p.m. at home.
