Heizer Grabs Second ODAC Weekly Award Of Year

The big senior season continues for thrower Jeremy Heizer (Staunton, Va./Riverheads). Just two weeks removed from a trip to the NCAA Indoor National Championships, Heizer was named the ODAC Field Athlete of the Week. He also won a weekly honor from the league office during the indoor season.

Heizer shined in the throws at the Raleigh Relays last week.  In the shot put, he posted a new outdoor PR of 15.54m (51-0ft) to take over the top spot in the ODAC by 1.54m. Heizer's throw placed 16th overall and first among NCAA Division III in the event at the meet. His mark also sits 10th in the country.

The best shot put he threw during the indoor season is 16.26m. Heizer was also named the ODAC Athlete of the Meet after winning the shot put and weight throw at the 2016 ODAC Indoor Championships in February.

Eastern Mennonite is taking part in two meets this weekend, with a handful of athletes going to the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va., on Friday and Saturday. The main part of the team is heading to Saturday's Roanoke Invitational in Salem, Va.
