EMU senior Grant Amoateng (Bristow, Va./Patriot) has earned his first trip to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Amoateng heads to the national meet in the triple jump after already being a two-time participant in the national outdoor meet.
The championships are this Friday and Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts, with the University of Massachusetts, Boston serving as host.
Amoateng is seeded No. 18 in the triple jump, landing his indoor PR of 14.30m (46ft-11in) at the ODAC Championships on Feb. 24. Freshman Jonathan Wilburn of Wisconsin-Oshkosh had the best jump in the nation during the season at 15.02m.
The triple jump event for the men will start Saturday at 2:00pm. Amoateng has finished 13th each of the last two years in the outdoor triple jump.
The top 20 men in each event qualify for the National Championships, and the top eight finishers at the meet will be named All-America.
