EMU senior Grant Amoateng (Bristow, Va./Patriot) won his seventh ODAC Field Athlete of the Week honor on Monday.
A three-time nationals participant, Amoateng tuned up for his final ODAC Championships by winning both the triple jump and long jump at the EMU Legacy Invitational on Saturday.
Amoateng won his speciality, the triple jump, with a season best distance of 14.43m (47' 4.25"). Not only is it the top mark in the ODAC this season, but it also pushed him to No. 8 in the nation and will possibly be a good enough distance to earn another trip to the National Meet. He also won the long jump at EMU first home meet since 2008, landing at 6.70m (21' 11.75"). He is 3rd in the ODAC in the event.
This is the second weekly honor from the ODAC for Amoateng this year, after winning it once in the first week of the indoor season. He also claimed ODAC Athlete of the Week four times as a junior and once as a sophomore.
EMU's track & field teams will send athletes to both the WildCat Invitational and Mason Spring Invitational this weekend, in preparation for next weekend's ODAC Championships in Lynchburg, Va.
