Three EMU track & field athletes have landed on the All-South/Southeast Region Team, as named by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Senior triple jumper Grant Amoateng (Bristow, Va./Patriot) earned his seventh All-Region honor, combined between the indoor and outdoor triple and long jump events. Junior Jamel Howard (Leesburg, Va./Tuscarora) claimed his second and third All-Region honors this spring in the high and long jumps, while freshman Michaela Chowning (Urbanna, Va./Middlesex) cleared her first in the high jump.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final TFRRS data.
Chowning was No. 1 in the South/Southeast in the high jump at 1.69m (5ft-6.5in.). Amoateng was No. 2 in the triple jump at 14.80m (48ft-6.75in). They are both heading to the NCAA Outdoor Championships this weekend in Geneva, Ohio.
Howard was No. 4 in the high jump in the region at 2.02m (6ft-7.5in) and was No. 5 in the long jump at 7.14m (23ft-5.25in).
