In his first track & field season, EMU's Isaac Alderfer (Broadway, Va./Broadway) has earned a spot on the All-South/Southeast Region Team, as named by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Alderfer finished fourth in the region in the 800m with his school record time of 1:54.97, run at last weekend's South Region Final Qualifier. He previously claimed All-ODAC Second Team status by finishing second at the ODAC Championships on March 1. The fantastic indoor season came after Alderfer was Eastern Mennonite's top cross country runner last fall. The sophomore missed the 2019 track & field season while studying abroad through EMU's cross-cultural program.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final TFRRS data. Sophomore Alijah Johnson (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) just missed All-Region honors in the 200m where stood sixth. Similarly, the Royals' distance medley relay squad was one spot out of the honor as they were fourth in the South/Southeast Region. Relay teams need to rank top-3 to be All-Region.
