EMU's volleyball men met up with No. 3 Kean University Friday night, and even the home crowd could not help them past the ranked Cougars.

Kean ran to a straight sets decision, staying undefeated in CVC play and setting up their road game at Southern Virginia tomorrow. Both KU and SVU are 10-0 in the conference, with the winner of Saturday's match hosting the postseason tournament.

The Royals (4-18/4-6 CVC) were eliminated from contention for that six-team field with the loss to Kean. Set scores against the Cougars were 25-16, 25-17 and 25-14.

Travis Abele (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) led Eastern Mennonite with five kills, six assists, four digs and two blocks. Jacob Durren (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) added three kills and three blocks. R.J. Ocampo (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Hunter Taylor (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) each had three kills as well.

Wyatt Bollinger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) put up six assists. Libero Austin Tomlin (Greenville, Va./Riverheads) had four digs.

Ian Capp led Kean with eight kills and 15 assists. The Cougars hit .417 as a team.

The Royals host Rutgers-Newark (14-9/6-4 CVC) in their season finale on Saturday, with a 1:00pm start time. EMU will also have Senior Recognition before that match.
