Royals Sweep Immaculata For CVC Win

EMU hit a season-best .226 as a team, rolling to a 3-0 win over Immaculata to open CVC play.

The Royals even their record at 2-2 overall as prepare for next Friday's big match at rival Southern Virginia (4-3/1-0 CVC). Game time in Buena Vista is at 7:00pm.

Visiting Immaculata scored the first three points against EMU and led by as many as four at 8-4. But the men struck a 10-2 streak to flip in front, 14-10, and take control of momentum. Eastern Mennonite won the opener by a final of 25-20.

The Royals built some space early in the second with a 4-0 run pushing open an 11-6 margin. Another 4-0 run made it 15-8. From there the men rolled to a 25-18 win.

EMU had a pair of 4-0 runs in the third, pushing to a 17-11 lead on a service ace from Josh White (Chesapeake, Va./Bishop Sullivan). They kept the momentum and finished off the match, 25-16.

Wyatt Bollinger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) led the way for the Royals, getting a career high 11 kills and 14 assists in the team's 6-2 offense. Bollinger also had nine digs to just miss a triple double. Drew Bennett (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks) added 20 assists and eight kills. Jacob Durren (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) and Martin Pou (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) each landed seven kills against no attack errors.

White finished with three aces. Libero Neo Carter (Newport News, Va./Heritage) settled into his role with nine digs while taking the majority of EMU's serve receptions.

Garrett Pepper had five kills to lead Immaculata (1-4/0-2 CVC). The Mighty Macs hit .000 as a team.
