  • EMU Breaks All-Academic Record Again, Clearing 100
    July 20, 2015
    EMU’s student-athletes continue to out-do themselves. The Royals set a new high for student-athletes named to the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, putting 104 on the team, showing their fourth straight year with an increase in honorees.
  • McCurdy Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

    J.D. McCurdy has been involved with softball far more years than he played baseball. Yet EMU’s head softball coach was once a regular All-Star first baseman and clean-up hitter in the Rockingham County Baseball League from 1968 to 1984 and was recently inducted into the RCBL's Hall of Fame.
  • Royals' Lucas Voted All-State Again

    Aislinn Lucas has now made it back-to-back All-State awards. The junior softball player was voted onto the All-State Second Team for the second straight year, as chosen by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

    EMU junior Aislinn Lucas has earned a repeat spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Teams, being named All-Atlantic Region Third Team.
  • Royals Put Two On All-ODAC Teams

    A pair of EMU softball women have earned spots on the All-ODAC Team, which was announced this morning by the league office. Junior Aislinn Lucas repeats her selection from last year, while Lauren Seale earns an All-ODAC honor in her first campaign.
  • Two Drama-Filled Losses Send Softball Women Home

    The EMU softball women made some noise at the ODAC Tournament in Salem on Friday, but were sent home with a pair of one-run losses. The Royals end the year at 16-14, including a 9-11 mark in the ODAC during the season.
  • Royals Draw No. 7 Seed, Play Lynchburg Friday At 2:00pm

    With the ODAC regular season finally completed, EMU's softball women officially know they have earned the No. 7 seed in this weekend's ODAC Tournament. The Royals will play No. 2 Lynchburg Friday at 2:00pm at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.
  • Women Heading Back To Tournament After Sweep Of Sweet Briar

    EMU’s softball women closed the regular season with a sweep at Sweet Briar, punching a postseason ticket for the 10th straight year. The women are tied with Randolph College for seventh in the ODAC standings, but won’t find out their seeding until the official ODAC Tournament bracket is released following completion of rescheduled games on Monday.
  • Softball's Non-Conference DH At Mary Washington Cancelled

    EMU's softball doubleheader at Mary Washington has been cancelled. The set was scheduled to be played on Tuesday in Fredericksburg, Va., but with the rainy forecast the non-conference date was called off.

    The EMU softball team ran into some tough pitching Sunday on the road, dropping a pair of 3-0 decisions at Lynchburg. The Hornets stand in third place in the ODAC while Eastern Mennonite is in eighth with two games left to play.
  • Softball Splits With Randolph On Senior Day

    The EMU softball women split another ODAC doubleheader on Saturday. The Royals grabbed a walk-off win over visiting Randolph in the first game before losing a one-run decision in the nightcap. They also celebrated Seniors and Parents Recognition in separate ceremonies during the day.

    Entering the day tied with host Randolph-Macon for sixth place in the ODAC standings, EMU’s softball women dropped a pair to the Yellow Jackets in Ashland. Eastern Mennonite sits at 13-9 overall and 6-8 in the league, clinging to seventh place.

    Due to rain in central Virginia, the EMU softball doubleheader at Randolph-Macon has been postponed from today to Wednesday. As a result, the non-conference games at Southern Virginia have been flip-flopped to today.
  • Royals Homer In Four Straight Frames In Sweep Of Southern Virginia

    Tuesday was all about offense as the EMU softball women pounded out 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia. The Royals had been scheduled to play an ODAC set at Randolph-Macon, but with rain falling in Ashland during the day, the women ended up exchanging their doubleheaders, moving SVU to today and R-MC to Wednesday.
  • Lucas Named National Hitter Of The Week

    Eastern Mennonite softball player Aislinn Lucas has been named Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Hitter of the Week. The junior outfielder hit .722 over six games, extending her personal hitting streak to 12 games, to earn the award.
  • Miller's Six RBIs Push Royals To Mercy Win Nightcap At Shenandoah

    Another doubleheader, another split. EMU’s softball women split their ODAC set at Shenandoah on Wednesday, earning their fourth split in six ODAC doubleheaders. The Royals are 11-7 overall and 6-6 in the conference as they hit a short layoff in their schedule.

    Despite showing plenty of offense, EMU’s softball women had to settle for a split in a Sunday afternoon ODAC set against Guilford. The Royals are now 10-6 on the year, including 5-5 in the ODAC, as they prepare to play 12 of their final 14 games on the road.

    While they would have preferred a sweep, EMU’s women are happy to be playing even with the nation’s best. Just four days after splitting with No. 11 Virginia Wesleyan, Eastern Mennonite’s softball team split with No. 22 Christopher Newport University.

    EMU’s softball women split a doubleheader at Roanoke on Saturday, keeping their ODAC record even at 2-2. The Royals return home Sunday and step out of conference play to take on nationally ranked Christopher Newport University in a twinbill starting at 1:30pm.
  • Start Time For Softball At Roanoke Moved To 5:00pm

    The start time of the EMU vs. Roanoke softball doubleheader on Saturday has been pushed back to 5:00pm. The ODAC twinbill will still be played at the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
  • Women Muscle Past Juniata In Non-Conference Sweep

    EMU’s bats were swinging Thursday at Juniata, as the softball women clubbed their way to a sweep of the Eagles. Eastern Mennonite scored 13 runs in each game of the doubleheader to improve to 5-1 on the season.
  • Royals Start ODAC With Split Against No. 11 Virginia Wesleyan

    EMU’s softball women got their ODAC season started off on the right foot, earning a split with preseason favorite Virginia Wesleyan College Wednesday afternoon in Harrisonburg. The women dropped the opener 4-0 before getting a great pitching performance with some timely hitting to win the nightcap, 3-1.
  • Women Ready To Make A Move In 2015

    While EMU’s softball women expect to move up from their No. 6 spot in the ODAC Preseason Poll, it will take an entire team effort to do it. A talented core of six upperclassmen will provide the base for the team, with an infusion of ten new faces, including three sophomores, filling holes and adding depth.
  • Royals Ring In The New Year With A Sweep

    Twelve days, three cancellations and one postponement later than they were supposed to, EMU’s softball women finally opened the 2015 season. With snow and rain wreaking havoc on their early schedule, the Royals finally got to play at Mary Baldwin on Thursday (after it was postponed from Tuesday), and the women played like they were happy to be on the field in a doubleheader sweep.

    EMU's 2015 season opener will have to wait. Again. With rain now falling on a softball field which only recently melted away all of its snow, Eastern Mennonite University and Mary Baldwin College have postponed today's softball doubleheader.
  • Snow Knocks Out Softball's Beach Blast

    Due to the recent snow in the Virginia Beach, Va., area, this weekend's Beach Blast 2015 is being cancelled. EMU's softball team had planned to head to the Beach for their first four games of the year but now their season opener will again have to come at a later date.
