It had to end sooner or later.

EMU's softball women saw the best start in program history reach its peak on Wednesday, as No. 13 Randolph-Macon took a pair of games in Ashland to snap the Royals' 12-game winning streak.

Now 12-2 on the year, Eastern Mennonite will look to start another winning streak this weekend when they host two ODAC doubleheaders. Emory & Henry comes to Harrisonburg on Saturday, with a 1:00pm first pitch, before Guilford visits at 1:30pm on Sunday.

No. 13 Randolph-Macon 8, EMU 0 – 5 innings
The Royals started behind the eight ball in the opener and never recovered. After going down in order in the top of the first, EMU allowed three hits and three free passes to the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the first, falling behind 4-0.

The women earned only two baserunners in the game, getting a double from Sydney Reath (Chambersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) in the second and a Mariah Foltz (Broadway, Va./Broadway) single in the fourth.

EMU allowed Randolph-Macon to score in four of the five frames, including the mercy-rule triggering eighth run on an error with two outs in the fifth.

Lauren Seale (Madison, Va./Madison County) (5-1) started in the circle but gave up three runs in the first before being replaced by Reath.

No. 13 Randolph-Macon 6, EMU 3
Beck Hoskins (Danville, Va./Westover Christian Academy) got the women rolling the nightcap, singling with one out in the first. She scored when Foltz singled and the R-MC centerfielder misplayed the ball. Reath later singled to bring in Foltz for a 2-0 lead.

The Yellow Jackets scored once in the second and combined two hits with two walks in the third to jump in front, 3-2.

Eastern Mennonite tied the game in the fourth after a passed ball, but had the rally cut off when a runner was tagged out at home after a walk.

Randolph-Macon grabbed the momentum back, scoring twice in the fourth and once in the sixth, while EMU left the bases loaded in the sixth and would not score again.

Foltz batted 1-2 with two walks, scoring once and driving in another run. Hoskins was also 1-2 with two walks and touched home once. Cassidey Chrisman (Staunton, Va./Riverheads) drew a pair of walks.

Seale and Alexa Sheets (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) combined to pitch for EMU, with Sheets getting the loss after giving up five runs in 3.2 innings.
