  • EMU Women Bumped From ODAC Tournament, 76-68

    The season came to a close for EMU’s basketball women Monday night, dropping a 76-68 decision to Shenandoah University in an ODAC Tournament First Round game. The Royals got as close as three points in the final minute before SU iced the game at the free throw line, earning the mild upset in the tourney’s #8/#9 game.

    EMU’s basketball women finished off the regular season in style Saturday night, shooting past Hollins by a final of 71-37. The win snaps a three-game skid and gives Eastern Mennonite a home game in the first round of next week’s ODAC Tournament.

    The first six minutes of the game could not have gone much worse as Virginia Wesleyan scored the first nine points. In the end, that game-opening spell was too much to overcome, as EMU’s basketball women suffered a 67-59 road loss to the Marlins.

    Some nights the ball just will not go through the net, and Tuesday was definitely one of those nights for the EMU basketball women. The Royals connected on just five field goals in the first half and shot a season-low 25% in a 61-36 loss to Shenandoah.

    Tied at the end of the third, the Eastern Mennonite women's basketball team stormed back in the fourth quarter en route to a 72-66 victory over host Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon. The Royals (12-8/7-5 ODAC) return to Yoder Arena on Tuesday evening, hosting Shenandoah for a 7:00 tip.

    When Lindsey Krisak hit a three pointer just 1:07 into play, no one had an idea what was to come. Led by Krisak and Lexi Deffenbaugh, EMU’s women unleashed a nearly historic air attack in rolling to a 72-55 road win at Hollins University Tuesday night.

    Visiting Emory & Henry shot lights out in the first period and made the margin stick as they handed EMU’s basketball women an 81-72 loss on Saturday. Despite playing a good game, the Royals suffered their third straight loss as they emerge from a tough stretch in their schedule with a record of 10-8 overall and 5-5 in the ODAC.
  • Marlins Sneak 53-51 Decision From EMU Women

    For the second time in the past four games, EMU’s basketball women laid down a stifling defensive performance, only to lose by simply giving up too many offensive rebounds. They held visiting Virginia Wesleyan to just 28% shooting, but the Marlins crashed the glass for 21 offensive rebounds to sneak out with a 53-51 decision.
