It was a fantastic return to the course for EMU senior Olyvia Longacre (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy).
Longacre only golfed six rounds last year, including just one tournament in the spring, but she didn't show any rust on Saturday. Entering her final season at Eastern Mennonite University, Longacre shot one of her best rounds ever, carding a 79 (+7) to tie for second at the Knights Invitational.
Her low round score is a 77 from last fall.
Southern Virginia hosted the tournament on the Lexington Golf and Country Club. Savannah Scott of Bridgewater topped the 63-woman field with a 74 (+2), with Longacre tying Lynchburg's Elizabeth Self and BC's Jesse Bartley five back.
Next up for Longacre is the Bridgewater Invitational on Sept. 23-24. The two-day event is on Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg, where she set her low round in 2018.
