Senior Olyvia Longacre (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) continues to churn out top-notch performances.
Saturday it was at the Greene Turtle Invitational where Longacre, EMU's lone female golfer this year, finished seventh in the one-day, 36-hole event. It was her third top-10 finish in four tournaments this fall, with all three in the top seven.
Playing at the par-72, 5803-yard Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Va., Longacre shot an 87 on the first 18 holes. Due to the two-round format, the women rode carts on the day, but Longacre seemed to get stronger as the holes wore on, carding an 83 on the second 18.
She finished at 170 (+26) for the tournament, taking seventh out of 40 women. Lynchburg's Lilly Self won medalist honors by four strokes at 158 (+14).
Longacre will represent Eastern Mennonite University at one more tournament this fall, the VSGA Intercollegiate in two weeks. The two-day event is Oct 19-20 at the James River Country Club in Newport News, Va.
