Heading into the new season, EMU has been picked ninth out of 14 schools in the ODAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Royals earned 71 points as voted on by the coaches, placing them in the middle of the pack between newcomer Ferrum College and Emory & Henry.

EMU's soccer women expect to continue building after a successful season in 2017 when they finished as the No. 8 seed heading into the ODAC Tournament with an overall record of 7-9-2, and 5-5 in conference play.

Returning for EMU is midfielder Rachel Sauder (Lyndhurst, Va./Stuarts Draft) who earned All-ODAC Third Team last season as a freshman, providing four goals and six assists. After graduating a class of 10 seniors, the Royals will look towards rising seniors Logann Braun (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and Sylvia Mast (Broadway, Va./Eastern Mennonite) to provide leadership to a youthful but experienced team.

The season will start for EMU at the Marymount Classic Aug. 31 against host Marymount before playing North Carolina Wesleyan the following day.
