Sixth-year women's soccer coach Ted Erickson has announced his team's 18-game schedule for the 2019 season.
The EMU women start the year with three straight games in Harrisonburg, starting with Marymount University on Friday, August 30. The Royals also welcome Averett on Sept. 1 and St. Mary's (Md.) on Sept. 4. That contest with the Seahawks is also a Rowdy Royals Game, with all of EMU's student-athletes expected to be in the stands supporting their fellow Royals.
After the season-opening homestand, the soccer women hit the road for their next three games before an 11-day break. They play two more non-conference games before jumping into ODAC play at Emory & Henry on Sept. 28.
The Royals host traditional power Lynchburg on EMU's Homecoming Weekend, playing a late afternoon game on Saturday, Oct. 12. After a tough road swing with games at Bridgewater, Roanoke and Randolph-Macon, the women wrap up the regular season at home on Nov. 2 with an ODAC date against Sweet Briar.
Other conference home games include Virginia Wesleyan, Hollins and Ferrum. EMU also hosts Greensboro in a non-conference game on Sept. 22.
With the ODAC's unbalanced schedule, the Royals drew all three of the league's 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifiers: Lynchburg, Bridgewater and Virginia Wesleyan. Eastern Mennonite was not scheduled to play Shenandoah, Guilford or Washington and Lee, although the women will play a preseason road scrimmage against the Generals.
The Royals earned a record of 6-8 in 2018, including 4-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
