The EMU soccer women ended the regular season with a win at home against Sweet Briar on Saturday by a score of 8-0. The Royals finish the regular season with a record 10-6-1 on the season and 4-5-1 in the conference play as they secure the NO. 9 seed in the ODAC Tournament.

EMU will travel to play at No. 8 Lynchburg on Monday, Nov. 2 at 3:30pm for the first round of the ODAC Tournament.

The Royals came out of the gate controlling the ball on the offensive end. In the second minute Leigh Lumsden (Madison, Va./Madison County) started the scoring tapping a ball into the net on a pass from Lily Dodson (Brightwood, Va./Madison County). Liz Huffman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) scored in the 13th minute from a cross off the foot of Hannah York (Richmond, Va./John Randolph Tucker).

Rachel Sauder (Lyndhurst, Va./Stuarts Draft) put the next two scores on the board for EMU in the 30th and 32nd minute. The first one was unassisted with the second goal getting set up by Alyssa Breidigan (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) as the Royals took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Lindsey White (Broadway, Va./Broadway) got the scoring going again in the second half when she headed in a cross from York in the 52nd minute. Chloe Weaver (Linville, Va./Broadway) scored in the 61st minute when she controlled a loose ball in front of the goal mouth and kicked the ball around the keeper.

In the 67th minute, Weaver sent a ball up to Laura Rittenhouse (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) who turned the ball around and sent a bouncing shot underneath the diving keeper for her second goal of the season. Sauder found Brittney Timmons (Unionville, Va./Orange County) all alone on a pass in front of the net in the 75th minute as she one-timed the ball into the far side of the goal.

EMU held the advantage in shots 49-0 while also earning six corner kicks. Leah Wenger (Broadway, Va./Eastern Mennonite) did not have a save in net, but she did send a shot on goal.
