Hannah Chappell-Dick (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) is ready for a strong finish. In her first effort in the outdoor season, EMU's senior dropped a pair of top-three national times and then earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Field Athlete of the Week award.
Chappell-Dick ran against mostly NCAA Division I runners at the Raleigh Relays last weekend, and she ran well. The All-American started off with the 1,500m run on Friday, finishing 29th overall with a time of 4:33.74. That is the top time in the ODAC and third in NCAA Division III so far this season.
The next day, Chappell-Dick competed in the 800m run and again put herself atop the conference charts with a sixth-place time of 2:10.26. That mark sits second in the country.
Including cross country awards, this is the 11th Athlete of the Week honors she has received from the ODAC.
She earned her fourth All-American award two weeks ago at the NCAA Indoor National Championships, finishing second in the mile.
Eastern Mennonite is taking part in two meets this weekend, with a handful of athletes going to the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va., on Friday and Saturday. The main part of the team is heading to Saturday's Roanoke Invitational in Salem, Va.
