The Royals put this weekend’s Montreat College Invitational in Black Mountain, N.C., on the slate, and a number of participants broke PRs, while two made big moves up the national leaderboards.

    While Friday’s weather was cool and windy, Saturday wasn’t much better with clouds and sprinkles hampering the first outdoor track & field meet of the season, the W&L Carnival in Lexington, Va. Nonetheless, it was a successful start to the outdoor campaign for the Eastern Mennonite men and women as they took home a pair of individual wins.

    The Eastern Mennonite track & field teams had a great last effort before next week’s ODAC Championships, with a number of the Royals breaking their PRs at Friday’s Roanoke Tune-Up. EMU’s teams head back to Roanoke College next Sunday, Feb. 25, for the ODAC Indoor Championships.

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced Bob Hepler as the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field. Hepler will start in Harrisonburg early this summer, upon completion of his 14th season in a similar role at the University of Texas at Tyler.
