The Eastern Mennonite University volleyball women closed their 2018 season at rival Bridgewater Friday night. EMU took a 3-0 loss and ended the year with a record of 8-20 overall and 2-10 in ODAC play.
The Royals made a few runs early in the first set, trailing only 11-9, before Bridgewater closed strong for a 25-12 score.
Maria Yoder (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) earned a solo block to have her team within 16-13 in the second, but another strong finish gave BC a 25-17 decision.
Two big runs in the third gave the Eagles all the momentum they needed to close the night out, 25-8.
Yoder finished with five kills and a .333 kill percentage in her final match. Meredith Stinnette (Lynch Station, Va./Altavista) also had five kills.
Beck Hoskins (Danville, Va./Westover Christian Academy) had three kills and two blocks to close out her career.

Beck Hoskins was a three-year start as a middle, putting together 344 kills and 152 blocks. Erin Brubaker (Goessel, Kan./Goessel) played two years at EMU after transferring from Hesston College and had 255 kills.
