Mast Again Named Top ODAC Runner

Senior Michaela Mast (Broadway, Va./Eastern Mennonite) earned her second career win on Saturday at the NCAA Regional Preview in Newport News, Va. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference then gave her Runner of the Week honors after the performance.

Mast earned her second win in four races this season, running alone at the lead of the CNU Invitational. She finished 29 seconds ahead of the next runner with a time of 23:46. Teammate Elizabeth Nisly (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) was second in 24:15. As a first-time runner, Mast has now won two races while finishing second in another.

A week prior to the CNU Invitational, Mast had a "big breakthrough" at the prestigious Paul Short Run according to interim coach Hannah Chappell-Dick. She proved that despite being in her first year of collegiate running, she is an impact runner.

This is Mast's second honor as ODAC Runner of the Week, also earning it at the beginning of the season.

After the ODAC Championships hosted by Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 28, EMU's cross country teams head back to Newport News for the South/Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 11.
